I wanted to write a post about how you should pay attention to your politicians and the people who run for political office as most of you know by now some people should not have been elected to begin with. Lets start in the United States with the election of Donald Trump who many argue is one of the worst Presidents in the history of the United States.
Donald Trump before becoming President of the United States was a rich billionaire who always seemed to find himself in some sort of financial situation that would always cost him millions of dollars. Some of his failed investments include Trump University which he helped to create in 2004 and would collapse in 2011 four years before he ran to become President Elect of the Republican party. He also had his failed venture in the Taj Mahal Casino which failed because of the cost of building the Casino in the first place and of course had a affair scandal pop up when it was found out that he had been paying hush money to keep Stormy Daniels quiet about the affair.
Trump of course is not the first President to have an affair with another women other Presidents before him beat him to it. One was Bill Clinton who had an affair with Monica Lewinsky, a white house intern and would lead to his impeachment. Warren James Harding, who is reported to have had a relationship with Nan Britton who may have fathered him a child. This affair that Donald Trump had alone is just one red flag but what people should have payed attention to was his platform.
Donald Trump ran on a platform that most consider to be populist which they are correct in that most of his policy's are what a populist government would run on. Trump wanted to build a border wall with Mexico that came out of the increase of the number of illegal immigrants coming into the nation that it seemed the previous Obama government was not doing anything to solve the problem. He also issued executive order 13769 which put a ban on people traveling from Muslim nations simply because he thought that all Muslim people must all be terrorists. This of course is not true not most followers of Islam are encouraged to donate to charities and do good deeds throughout the world instead of strapping a bomb to themselves and taking someone's life.
Adolf Hitler's rise to power was similar to Donald Trumps rise to power in that they both took advantage over a situation. Germany had just been defeated in the First World War which angered some of the militarists who believed that Germany could have continued fighting the First World War but ultimately what brought him in was the Great Depression. The similarity between Donald Trump and Adolf Hitler is that they both managed to take advantage of a situation that lead them to take power. The people that voted them in where unhappy about the situation and did not think about the actions that both of these men would take. It is important for voters to do their research before voting in a specific leader and take time to think about the consequences that electing a person to the highest position in the nation which is how these two got in the first place. So remember for the next time you vote to take time to think about how will this leaders policy's effect the nation will they be for good or harmful.
